The music video for Kalabrese, a personal project from the DJ, had a very specific challenge: to create a piece that would reflect the raw and spontaneous nature of his music. The objective was to go beyond a traditional production and capture the rhythm and life of Mexico City in an authentic and unfiltered way. The challenge was to let the city be the set and its inhabitants the actors, finding visual harmony in the creative chaos of the streets.
We approached this project with a spirit of guerrilla filmmaking. With a small team, which initially consisted of Memo Matthews, Lorea, and myself, and later joined by Esteban and Isabela, we went out to film with a handheld camera. We aimed to capture the protagonist's energy and the city's pulse in a very "street" way. The production was based on spontaneity, seeking real moments and movement in the streets and urban spaces of CDMX, creating a piece that feels honest and unpretentious.
The result is a vibrant and authentic music video that perfectly captures the essence of Kalabrese's music. The project proves that creativity doesn't always need a big budget or complex logistics, but rather a clear vision and a team that trusts in spontaneity. The final piece is a testament to how art can be found in the most unexpected places, and how a production with soul can create a genuine connection between an artist, the city, and their audience.
